Book Reviews

Because this conservative blog is committed to educate and solve problems, this is one of my favorite sections.  I read a lot of books so that I can understand the facts and the passions on both sides of issues.

There are a lot of books out there, some inspire you to see issues in a different light, while some are so bad, you wish you could take that time lost back.  I will use this page to let you know of strong conservative books that I enjoyed so that you need not waste your time reading inadequate books.

I may occassionally suggest a book that is not conservative but offers some good opposing viewpoints as I think it is important to have a diversity of thought and challenge assumptions.

Please cast your opinions on the books I suggest as well as what books you enjoy in the comments section below.

“Reinventing the Right: Conservative Voices for the Millennium” by John Amble and Robert Wheeler

“Reinventing the Right” is the first book I want to suggest you read; it is hot off the press and already selling quickly on amazon.com.  This book is a brilliant collection of young conservatives that address the different issues we are facing today as our founding fathers would.  Each chapter tackles a different policy, so you end up  knowledgeable on a wide variety of issues.  In addition to the great arguments to having a conservative government, the variety of authors makes the book interesting and a quick read.

“Courage To Stand” by Tim Pawlenty

“Courage to Stand” is a great book to understand Presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty, former governor of the great state of Minnesota.  The thing I loved about the book is that it was real and offered solutions.  It was real because Pawlenty shares his successes and his learning moments.  It offered great solutions because it showed how his solutions were tested in Minnesota and worked!  Rather the writing a book that complains about Obama and the Democrats, the book is entertaining to read (he talks about his experience with former MN governor Jesse Ventura).

“The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness” by Dave Ramsey.

“The Total Money Makeover” is a really good book that has an easy to follow plan to get out of debt.  Why a personal finance book on a political website?  For us to understand the detriments of debt at our government level, we have to understand it personally.  Further, personal debt is killing our country and make a difference, we have to be different.

  1. Aw, this was an exceptionally good post.
Spending some time and actual effort to make a very good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a whole lot and never seem to get nearly anything done.
